Review: Vichy Normaderm, My thoughts

Hi Chums,

A few months back, I was a lucky duck and won a competition run by the lovely (and gorgeous) Nic from Strawberry Blonde Beauty, sponsored by Gordon's Chemist and bagged myself a handful of products from the Vichy Normaderm range.

For those of you that are scratching your heads thinking, the Norma what range? I'll give you a brief rundown of the range and its purpose.

The tag line of this range is 'Vichy Normaderm: For blemish free skin'. Now most people assume that if you get blemishes/acne/spots/dimpledots/pimples/what ever else you wanna call them, that it means you have oily skin, not so! I have combination/dry skin, so my hormonal T - Zone will get a bit oily (nothing too major) but the rest of my skin is pretty dehydrated. I tend to get spots in hormonal area's (yay for being a girl......) which means they are usually on my chin, or my nose.

Okay, I got side tracked there.....back to the point at hand. The Normaderm range has been created for blemish prone adult skin, because the good people at Vichy realised that it isn't just teenage skins that suffer from spotties. Yay Vichy!

Vichy claims that the Normaderm range will give you healthier looking skin in 7 days, that's pretty damn quick! It aims to target pores, shine, uneven skin tone, oiliness and marks.

There is a handy quiz you can take on the Vichy website that will help you decide if this is the range for you and what products you may need. It's very thorough, I was quite impressed with the questions it asks.
This was my result:

Your skin is not shiny but has dilated pores and/or blackheads and microcysts that affect its quality. With imperfection-prone skin, more nerve endings are in contact with sebaceous glands, making skin more irritable and irritated, triggering a vicious cycle as imperfections become recurrent. They require suitable, specifically targeted treatment.

I have to say, that's pretty spot on!!

Anyway, I'll get to the point here... The products I was very kindly sent were:

Normadorm Hyaluspot - This is a gel that you apply directly to spots from the applicator, the applicator itself is made of metal, so when you have a sore spot, it's really cooling and lovely. The first couple of times I used this, I didn't love it, it kinda peels off the skin a bit, but after giving it another go, I'm completely sold, it has cleared away spots really quickly without making them go all dry and gross. This contains hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid and LHA so help combat bacteria.

Anti-imperfection Hydrating Care -  First things first, I was mega sceptic about an acne moisturiser working for me, as I said I have a lot of dryness and dehydration, however, I will admit when I am wrong, and I was beyond pleasantly surprised that this gel/fluid like moisturiser quenched my super dry skin and left it feeling soft and moisturised but not at all oily. Big thumbs up for this moisturiser! One con though, it does have an alcohol/acidic smell to it, but it's not super over powering and fades really quickly.

Deep Cleansing Purifying gel - I use this gel everyday in the shower, it's FANTASTIC. It leaves my skin feeling clean, but not tight and stripped, it's very soothing. It comes in a super handy pump bottle and you only need a small amount to cover your whole face and neck. Again, the smell isn't great, this kinda reminds me of moth balls....Vichy need to be looking at their scents! But it's gone within seconds.

Exfoliating Gel -  I use this once or twice a week (what I really mean here, is when I actually remember) again, it is really gentle on the skin, which is so important to me, seeing as my skin is really sensitive to abrasive exfoliators. The beads gently sloth off any dead skin that builds up around my nose and smooths the uneven texture and tone. I really rate this exfoliator, it also contains acids to help break down the dead skin cells, so you're getting a double exfoliation here that is really really gentle. This is marked for daily use, and by all means, if your skin is a little hardier than mine, I say go for it. Honestly I probably could get away with using it everyday as it is so gentle.....If only I could remember to do these things....

3 - in - 1 Cleanser - This is the product I have used least to be honest,it can be used as a cleanser, scrub or mask. I use this product as a mask, once a week, or twice a week if I am breaking out. I think if you are very oily this would be fantastic as it mattifies the skin and helps reduce the amount of sebum produced.

So do I rate the Vichy Normaderm range? Yes! I have found a vast improvement in my skins appearance and texture, and although I still get hormonal spots, they clear up really quickly leaving no mark. I've also noticed the pores on my nose are a lot less visible.

One tiny little thing I would whinge about though..... The moisturiser is all done, but I still have TONS of the other products left. I think they maybe need to rethink the packaging for the moisturiser so they can get a bit more in there.

There are more products available in this range, including a micellar water and anti aging cream, anti shine gel etc. I would definitely recommend this range to anyone prone to adult acne. You can check them out on the Gordons Chemist website www.gordonsdirect.com or www.vichy.co.uk

Well, that was a bit of an essay, if you made it to the end, well done, give yourself a pat on the back! Do you suffer from adult acne? Any miracle products that help you? Have you tried this range?

I'll stop waffling now and let you get back to it!

Speak soon lovelies!
