Legends of the North; Titanic, Game of Thrones and more!

Hey Chums!

I had the COOLEST experience last week, me and the other half went on the Ultimate Titanic Tour.
What is the Ultimate Titanic Tour I hear you ask? It's an AMAZING tour run by Legends of the North, and I'm gunna tell ya all about it, so put your feet up, grab a cuppa, and let's get cracking!

Here’s the breakdown - Harland & Wolff Drawing Rooms, Titanic Slipways, The SS Nomadic*, Titanic’s Dock & Pump-House, Titanic Belfast Visitor Attraction*, Lunch Stop. * Additional to the regular tour.

At 10am, there was a knock on our door, and we were greeted by the lovely Colin, (one of the founding brothers), you are collected from your door (within Belfast) be that at your home or hotel and chauffeured around in a big cosy and comfy Mercedes van Taxi Cab to see the various attractions on the tour.

The first point I want to talk to you about, is Colin. Colin is a scholar and a gent! He is just the loveliest guy, and he is so so passionate about the Titanic, Northern Ireland and all it’s history. There was not a single question that we had that Colin didn’t know the answer too. His passion and energy was contagious, and we had such a laugh and a great time with him.

The amazing thing about the Ultimate Titanic Tour, is that you’re given access to parts of Titanic’s history that the public normally don’t get to see! Such as the Titanic Drawing rooms which Colin has the keys to, and it was incredible. The drawing rooms are in slight disrepair, but are still so incredibly beautiful, the detail in the architecture in the rooms is stunning, with all the ornate plaster still intact, it’s as if they just got up and left. Some of the original drawing desks in the Harland & Wolff executive offices are still there, the desks where all the important decisions where made on all the White Star Line ships.  There are plans to turn the drawing rooms in to event rooms with a boutique hotel, I really REALLY hope they raise enough money to make this happen, because the plans look incredible! Imagine having your wedding reception in the Titanic Drawing Rooms!!

It was also surprising how much of an impact it made on us, just being in those rooms, imagining all the people bustling around tweaking the designs, seeing the original staircases and fire places, and the telegraph room, where the first word came that there was trouble at sea! It’s so incredible to be able to immerse yourself that kind of history. We are so lucky!!

Next, it was on to The Titanic Pumphouse and Slipways,  it was so cool being able to see where Titanic had it’s final fittings, and also it gives you a better perspective of just how HUGE Titanic was, it was one heck of a ship!!  Colin has a fab big folder he carries with him, full of awesome photographs from when Titanic was being built, which makes everything that much more real. He is full of little stories and details that you simply won’t hear on any other tour, he is without a doubt one of the leading experts in the world on Titanic history, not to mention a lovely guy.

I don’t want to give too much away, and it’s so hard to describe an experience, but I can not recommend it highly enough!

The Ultimate Titanic Tour costs £100 for 4 people (£25 per person), this is a total bargain, seriously, you get driven around, Colins expensive knowledge and passion, access to exclusive locations and your lunch at the pump house cafe to top it all off! (the food was DELICIOUS, and all homemade!)

Legends of the North is a company based in Northern Ireland and founded by two brothers, they do loads of cool tours, including an 8 hour tour of Game of Thrones attractions around NI (Drive-past of Titanic Studios – where GOT is filmed, Ballintoy Harbour, Larrybane, Murlough Bay, Giant’s Causeway, The Dark Hedges) perfect Christmas present for a big Game of Thrones fan! AGiants Causeway tour (Carrickfergus, Castle Antrim Coast, Carrick-a- Rede Rope Bridge, Bushmills Distillery, Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle), a tour of Derry (Refreshment stop at the Beech Hill Hotel – basecamp for American GIs in WWII, Walking tour of Derry’s historic walls by the City Tours company, Lunch stop in Derry, Amelia Earhart’s landing site) AH guys! Did you know that Amelia Earhart landed in our very own Northern Ireland!! How cool is that?!

Phew, that was a lot to get in and I barely scrapped the surface! I really encourage you to take a look at the Legends of the North website and their fab tours!!

Are you a Titanic fan? How about Game of Thrones
